Women’s History Month is a time to celebrate courage, creativity, and the women who build their dreams from the ground up. Behind every Allure candle there is a story shaped by passion, persistence, and the vision of a woman who transformed a simple creative hobby into a growing handmade candle brand.
This March we are sharing the story of our founder Müge and the journey that led to the creation of Allure Candles. What began as a quiet experiment in a kitchen slowly evolved into a business that now offers more than one hundred sixty candle designs and reaches customers around the world.
A New Beginning in Canada
Before launching Allure, Müge had built a career as a textile engineer in her home country. Moving to Canada opened a completely new chapter in her life. At the same time she was caring for her six month old baby and adapting to a new environment.
During the early days of the pandemic life suddenly slowed down. That quiet moment created space for creativity.
With a few molds and some wax she began experimenting in her kitchen. The first candles were not perfect, but the process itself brought joy and a sense of creativity back into her daily life.
The First Candle That Changed Everything
One evening around eight o’clock, after her baby had fallen asleep, Müge prepared to make a candle in her kitchen. She carefully measured the wax and arranged everything neatly so the process would go smoothly.
"I like to do things exactly by the book. I measured everything carefully and poured my first candle on the kitchen stove."
The candle needed several hours to set. The next morning before even having breakfast she went straight to the kitchen to remove it from the mold. What she saw surprised her. The candle was smooth, clean, and beautifully shaped.
That moment became the beginning of something much bigger than a hobby.
The Power of Community
During that period Müge was very active within the Turkish community in Canada and shared her experiences through a YouTube channel. When she began showing the candles she was making, the response from her community was immediate.
People began asking if they could buy them. Friends and followers encouraged her to continue creating. "When you move to a new country your community really supports you. They were ready to buy the first candle not only because they liked it but because they wanted to support me."
This encouragement gave her the confidence to take the next step. What began as a creative hobby slowly started turning into a small business. Over time that small business became Allure Candles.
The Challenges of a Female Entrepreneur
Building a business while raising a child brought many responsibilities at the same time. When Allure first started her daughter Mila was only six months old. Today she is six years old and the brand has grown alongside her.
Balancing family life and business responsibilities has been one of the biggest challenges. "Business does not just pause. When I step away from work there are still household responsibilities and everything that comes with family life."
Over the years Allure grew from a few molds into a collection of more than one hundred sixty candle varieties. The brand that once sold mainly within a small community in Canada now exports internationally.
Navigating Self Doubt
Like many entrepreneurs, there were moments when she questioned whether the path she was on would succeed. Moving to a new country, becoming a new mother, and building a business at the same time created emotional challenges.
"There were times when I wondered if what I was doing made sense and how far it could really go." Instead of letting doubt take over, Müge chose to trust the process. "I believe that if something is meant for you it will continue to unfold. If not, another opportunity will appear." This mindset helped her move through difficult moments with patience and resilience.
A Turning Point in the Journey
One of the most important turning points in the growth of Allure came when the brand expanded into wholesale. Wholesale allowed the brand to reach a wider audience and introduced new opportunities within the candle industry.
At the same time Müge became a distributor for the raw materials she used in her candle making process. This led to the creation of a second brand called Essential Candle Supply. Through this new venture she began providing materials and support for other candle makers who wanted to start their own creative journeys.
Handmade Candles as Home Decor
Handmade candles have become an important element of modern home decor. Unlike mass produced products, artisan candles bring personality, warmth, and creativity into a space. Each Allure candle is carefully crafted with attention to detail. For many customers lighting a candle is not just about fragrance but about creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere in their homes. Allure candles are designed to turn everyday moments into something special.
What Allure Represents Today
Today Allure represents much more than a candle brand for its founder. "It feels like a seed I planted and watched grow. I chose how it would develop and shaped it with my own effort." For Müge the brand is proof of what creativity, dedication, and persistence can build over time.
Looking Toward the Future
Looking ahead, the vision for Allure continues to focus on growth while staying true to its handmade roots. Seeing other candle makers grow from small home businesses into full studios has been a major source of inspiration.
"My dream is to have my own studio and a team one day. A space where creativity and craftsmanship can grow even further."
